Description
Reading is a transversal skill that is indispensable for all stages of development. From nursery to 12th graders, along with teachers and administrators, multiple activities were carried out in order to stimulate the taste and love for reading. Starting from the fact that there are thousands of writers and proposals in whose diversity lies in being able to find the perfect book for each one. In the main hall there were five different publishers and two independent bookstores with a selection of books. Students from each grade went upstairs at a previously established time to make their selection and purchase books. A conference was held for parents of the nido and Preschool entitled: Strategies for reading mediation in early childhood, led by Estefania Oliveros, director of Pricesmart's Learning and Growing program, and a conference for elementary school students entitled: We are made of atoms and stories, conducted by: Carlos Ortiz-Parent of family AIS community.
Results and Impact Generated
All the students visited the fair and there was a literary frenzy to see and buy books.
More than 300 books were sold which may generate the birth of a new reader.
More than twelve parents discovered new strategies to promote reading at home according to the age and interest of the students.
